Owner Carla Thompson explains that the salon\u2019s dedication to sustainability is not just a marketing strategy; it is woven into the fabric of its operations. \u201cEnvironmental and social responsibility are core values of Hair Art & Beauty. Through their partnership with La Biosthetique, Hair Art & Beauty actively participates in the Colour With Care programme, which donates funds to Doctors Without Borders for every tube of hair color purchased. As part of the Sustainable Salons programme, Hair Art & Beauty has achieved remarkable results, recycling over 95 percent of its waste. Initiatives like turning cut hair into booms to absorb oil spills and repurposing chemical waste for construction demonstrate the salon\u2019s innovative approach to sustainability. \u201cWe have also provided materials to students at Canterbury University, who are doing exciting research into using hair and recycled plastics to create incredibly durable materials for things like furniture construction. We know if we work together, the future is bright.\u201d<\/p>\n

Transparency is also crucial; the salon organises site visits to recycling stations so that staff can witness firsthand the impact of their efforts. This engagement fosters a sense of ownership and accountability among the team, ensuring that everyone is invested in the mission.<\/p>\n

Carla is working hard to create a future where luxury and sustainability are seamlessly integrated into the beauty experience. \u201cMany companies choose to utilise products that are cheaper for them to buy, allowing them to maximise profits, but we are unwilling to compromise on our values or on the quality of the products we work with.\u201d<\/p>\n
